Danielle's Success Story

Weight loss success story

How Danielle went from eating her feelings to losing 19kg with Mounjaro on Voy

“Voy hasn’t just helped me change my body, it’s helped me love myself again, and you can’t really put a price on that."

27-year-old Danielle is a full-time mum to her 7-year-old and 3-year-old. While she loves her life at home, there's been one constant struggle behind the scenes: her weight. For as long as she can remember, Danielle’s weight has gone up and down, but things became especially tough after having her eldest.

Diets came and went and motivation dipped, but in Voy she found a weight loss programme that actually worked.

This is her story of losing an incredible 19kg (3 st) with Mounjaro on Voy.

‘Before and After’ weight loss results using Mounjaro

Danielle’s before and after transformation after losing 19kg with Mounjaro and Voy.

For years, I had no understanding of calories

Before I had my eldest, I was always slim. I never really had to think about my weight. But as soon as I had him, everything changed. My body didn’t bounce back, and from then on, my weight just kept going up and down. The smallest I’ve been since having kids was 14 stone, and even that felt huge compared to being around 9 stone before becoming a mum.

I realised I’d built a really unhealthy relationship with food. Some people stop eating when they’re stressed – I do the opposite. I eat my feelings. Food became my comfort blanket, whether I was sad, overwhelmed or even happy. It was just always there. I’d have a Greggs and a takeaway in a day and think, "That’s not loads." But once I started understanding calories properly, I realised how much I was actually putting into my body.

I was ready to give up before I found Voy

When I had my first daughter, I gave Slimming World a go. I lost a stone, but I never agreed with the whole idea. They tell you you can eat unlimited rice and pasta, and for me, the calories just didn’t add up. It didn’t feel sustainable. I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep it up unless I stayed on it forever, and that just wasn’t realistic.

I’ve done the shakes, Weight Watchers, you name it. I’ve tried it all. Calorie counting didn’t stick. I’d get bored or fed up and end up giving in to temptation, especially with the kids around and my partner eating normally. It was just too easy to fall back into old habits.

TikTok put the idea of Voy into my head

I actually started out with MedExpress because I’d seen people talking about it on social media. That’s how I first came across Voy, too. I saw others sharing their journeys, and that’s when I realised how different it was. It’s more expensive than some of the other options, but honestly, you get what you pay for.

I was nervous at first. I’m not great with needles, so the idea of injecting myself was a big deal. I’d heard about Mounjaro and the other meds, but I didn’t know a lot. I’d done a bit of research, but nowhere near what I know now. It felt scary, I’d just spent all this money and couldn’t help but think, “what if I’ve just wasted it?” But I also knew deep down this was my last shot. My last resort to finally feel confident and happy in my own skin again.

Coaching

“Just knowing I had access to a coach if I ever got stuck made me feel really safe - like I had a safety net.”

My month-by-month journey with Mounjaro

Week 1

I took my first injection on a Friday morning, just before lunch. By 8pm that night, I could already feel something shifting. I’d had my tea and couldn’t even finish it, which never happens. Normally I’d go looking for crisps or chocolate after, but I just didn’t fancy it. That was when I knew it was working. The food noise, especially in the evenings, had gone quiet. By the next day, the suppression had fully kicked in.

Week 2

I felt really lucky as I hadn’t had any major side effects at this point. And as a mum of two, I’d been so worried I wouldn’t be able to stay fully switched on for my kids. But I felt fine. Any side effects I did get were really mild, and I could still be there for them every day. It was all working as it should have been, which was really motivating.

Month 1

When I stepped on the scales, I was absolutely flabbergasted. I lost a stone in the first month! I know a lot of that was probably water weight, but it was still such a boost. From there it kept coming off steadily – 1, 2, sometimes 3 pounds a week. It only started slowing down when I got to a stone and a half away from my goal. That last bit has definitely been harder, but I’ve stuck to a high-protein diet and kept going.

Month 2

I was on 2.5mg with no real issues, just the odd headache. Then I moved up to 5mg and stayed on it for 4 weeks. The first week was totally fine, but the second week I had a bit of an upset stomach. The appetite suppression was so strong I’d sometimes forget to eat altogether. I didn’t feel like I needed to keep pushing up, so I talked to my coach and we decided to drop me back down. I’ve been on that dose ever since and it’s worked well for me.

Month 4

I’m still losing weight, even now. Last month I fluctuated a bit – I had a few birthdays and treated myself here and there. But that’s part of life. I used to be so strict with myself, but now I’ve learned to balance it out. I give myself a treat meal once a week and don’t feel guilty. I’m feeling good, looking good and learning to enjoy the process. I know I’ll be coming off soon, and I feel ready. I’ve honestly loved this journey, I’ll be sad when it’s over!

I’m glad I didn’t let horror stories put me off

Starting something like this is scary – you hear stories about extreme cases and worry about side effects. That kind of fear sits in the back of your mind. But with Voy, the support from the app and coaches was incredible. I wasn’t expecting to be able to have video calls, use AI tools to track my progress or take photos to see my transformation over time. As someone who didn’t know much about calories or nutrition, it was all so helpful.

I’ve learned so much about food while on Mounjaro, especially from the app and chatting to people on TikTok. I understand my eating habits now, so I don’t even really need to count calories anymore, I just know what works for my body. That kind of knowledge feels so empowering.

Losing weight feels like having my power back

Before, I wasn’t looking after myself. I felt stuck. But now, I actually feel like I’m accomplishing things I never thought I would. I’ve always wanted to drive, and I’ve finally taken that step – I just passed my theory and I’ve got my practical test booked. This would never have happened without the confidence this journey has given me.

I used to get dressed, look in the mirror and not even want to see myself. It would spiral into this internal argument and I'd end up eating for comfort and then beating myself up over it. But that mindset’s changed now.

My whole outlook on life has shifted. Before, I felt like I lost myself in motherhood. I stopped doing things for me. I was just “mum,” always cleaning, always looking after the kids, feeling like a bit of a robot. Now, I’ve started doing the things I’ve always wanted to do. Voy has helped me love myself again, and you can’t really put a price on that.

“Voy hasn’t just helped me change my body, it’s helped me change the way I think.”
